Ballet/Tap II: This class is a progression from our Ballet/Tap I class and develops technique, terminology and skills further. Class usually begins with ballet technique in the center facing the mirror. We start to introduce the classical structure of a ballet class. Plies, Tendus, Dégagés and Rond de Jambe are taught. Port de bra (movement of the arms) and stretching on the floor is typically next. We continue to review left and right, work on counting (even introduce different languages) and encourage proper placement. If time allows, we will go across the floor and work on our gross motor skills and ballet steps. At this age, we will add ballet skips going through passe (foot to the knee), Chasse (a side or forward gallop leading with the toe), sautés and jetes (more big jumps). As a reward for focus and determination we may end with dance games that reinforce eye hand coordination and motor skills or an obstacle course. We will then move to our tap technique. We solidify heel drops, toe drops, toe knocks, heel toe walks, shuffles and heel stands. We introduce new steps and work on combining the steps we know and remembering a sequence. The recital routines for this class are both ballet and tap.
Kindercombo: Just as Ballet/Tap II, this class is a progression from our Ballet/Tap I class and develops technique, terminology and skills further, but also introduces jazz technique. Next, we move to jazz technique where to focus is on isolations, battements (kicks), Chaine and Pirouette preparation (turns) and jetes (big jumps). The recital routines for this class are typically ballet and tap, but is up to the discretion of the teacher and/or director.
Hip Hop: This class is an upbeat, fast paced class introducing the fundamentals of hip hop dance. Gross motor skill development, strengthening and stretching are all a part of this class as well. Please wear clean sneaker that are only used for this class.
Mini Team: This class is an introduction to our team experience. Focus is on team commitment and doing our personal best. The program builds confidence, self-esteem, courage and solid dance skills. Dancers on team are required to participate in one class per week in addition to their mini team class on Friday. They will compete in 2 competitions in the spring. Entry fees are approximately $50/per competition and costume costs are around $80. These costs are in addition and separate to tuition.
