DANCE TEAM REQUIREMENTS
Audition Fee:  Each dancer will be charged $25 for auditioning each team.  Jazz/Lyrical Teams are considered one team.  If you choose to participate for the 2009-2010 year after you are placed on a specific team, then the $25 will go towards your $100 deposit.  You will be charged an additional $25 for auditioning for the specialty teams. Auditions will be held by age groupings, which are the same as competition groupings.  Audition attire: Leotard and tights or unitard.  Hair must be up and in a way so that it will not interfere with turning sequences.  Pants and/or shorts can be worn for hip hop and tap team auditions.

DANCE TEAM CAMP: Most of the choreography for the group numbers will be done over the summer during a special camp set aside for dance team members during the month of August.   The summer camp is mandatory for all dance team members.  Camp payment is due in full on the first day of camp.  The camp fee is a flat fee for the choreographer and is not a per day charge.  Camps will be held during the weeks of August 10th, 17th and 24th of 2009.  We do realize that some school systems go back sooner than others and we will coordinate camp times appropriately.

COMPANY CLASSES: There will be company jazz, lyrical and tap classes for advanced intensive teams.  Company classes are considered equivalent to dance team rehearsal.  Attendance is mandatory the week before any competition.  Missing company classes is equivalent to missing Saturday rehearsals. If you are ill or need to miss a class, please notify Dance Etc. as soon as possible.  Three absences from company classes/Saturday rehearsals will result in a strike against your attendance record.  Once you receive 3 strikes, you will be dismissed from the team.  Make-up classes will be available, but you must make up your absences during that same month.  During competition week, your assigned ballet class will also be mandatory.
REHEARSALS:  Rehearsals will take place during the week and on Saturdays for intensive Teams and our Performance Team.  Recreation Teams will rehearse on Friday afternoons.  Rehearsals are an important part to the team process.  If you are ill or need to miss a rehearsal you must notify Dance Etc. as soon as possible. Attendance is mandatory the Friday/Saturday before any competition.  If you are ill or need to miss a rehearsal you must notify Dance Etc. as soon as possible.  Missing rehearsals without notifying Dance Etc. will result in a strike against your attendance record.  For example, if you have 2 dances that rehearse on Saturday and you do not call, you will receive 2 strikes.  If you do call, it will count as 2 excused missed rehearsals.  Once you receive three strikes you will be taken off the team.  Three notified/excused missed rehearsals will equal one strike.

DANCE TEAM DEPOSIT: By the first day of Dance Team camp, all intensive members must have and keep a $100 balance and recreational members $50 in their account until the recital.  If a team member decides to quit or resign for any reason, the deposit will be given to Dance Etc. to pay for additional choreography and rehearsal fees.  There are no exceptions.  This deposit can be rolled over to the next year or refunded to you after the full dance year is finished.

COMPETITIONS/WORKSHOPS:  All members will participate in all competitions for their age and skill level.  Competition dates are posted well in advance to avoid any conflicts.  The Intensive Dance Team will compete in 4 Regional competitions.  The Recreational Dance Team will compete in 2 competitions.  All intensive dancers will perform in at least two routines – jazz production number and one with their individual dance team.  The Intensive Hip Hop team members will also have the opportunity to participate in the team production number.  All recreational dancers will perform one routine per competition and a production number of their own.

*New for 2009 - Our workshop will be held in NYC!!!  Details to follow soon!

Advanced dancers will perform in 3 routines – one production number and two with their individual dance team (jazz and lyrical).  Trophies for all other numbers will be property of Dance Etc.  Monetary winnings for Group, Line and Production numbers will be split 50 – 50 as well with 50 % going to the Dance Team fund and 50% going to Dance Etc.

One mandatory workshop/convention is required.  Recommended workshop will held in the fall.  If that workshop cannot be attended for some reason, there will be a fallback workshop opportunity.  Any dancer can attend both workshops if desired.

REQUIREMENTS:
ALL TEAMS AND MEMBERS - Poor attendance, inappropriate attire and having an unpleasant attitude in your weekly classes and at Dance Team events will jeopardize your placement on the team.  Bullying, foul language and illegal behavior at the studio or during any performance/competition will not be tolerated and you will be dismissed immediately from the team.
